dylan and i have been back in eugene for one year and it is fabulous. better weather (we are still in the midst of june-uary), friendlier people, better food (unless we are comparing mexican/latino selections) and less annoying graduate programs.
i am still amazed that a town that i have lived in for a total of 4.5 years (divided) can still surprise me with its secrets. i was running today, a perfect june-uary day for running and instead of taking a left where i normally would, i take a right and bam! hidden cemetary/park. in the middle of the south eugene university neighborhood there is like 10 sq blocks of this park arboretum 200 year old cemetary thing. apparently all of eugene’s original settlers are buried here. anyone want to go do some headstone rubbings? anyhow, it was beautiful and secluded and nevermind that you are essentially in someone’s backyard.
speaking of yards…ours is nearly weed free. three days of pulling weeds and our yard is looking somewhat yard-like rather than overgrown ugliness. i have until school starts again, june 26, to finish weeding, get our garden boxed built and planted and if i can earn enough money, maybe i will get some brick tiles for a little patio for our fire pit.
i leave for roseville on thursday for some time with the fam and doing their yard work for a small fee. also have some folks i need to visit as this may be a last chance.

  1. yes, yes I would. I adore historic cemeteries, especially that one. I love how tucked away it is right in the middle of south eugene. did you notice the beautiful crypt?

  2. You are talking about a place that is FULL of DEAD PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful or not, you are walking around on bones, spirts, and other related shit. That is just too creepy for words!
P.S. Are you talking about the cemetary by Potter? Yeah…inserting cemetaries, or more accurately building around cemetaries, should not have ever appeal to anyone. Except that I know it’s really pretty, probably kind of calm. But there are still TOOOOOO many dead people there. You can’t escape that simple fact.

  3. Above comment, by the freaked out by dead people person, by Christine. Not Susan. Though my computer won’t have it any other way. If you didn’t know.
